Ten industries hold more than 30% of pharmacy sales

Top manufacturers moved R$ 75.6 billion in the last 12 months

According to a survey by IQVIApharmacies sold R$ 238.8 billion in the 12 months to September 2025. And the top ten manufacturers account for more than 30% of that figure.

In the period, the group that includes pharmaceutical and consumer goods companies recorded R$ 75.6 billion in sales - 31.6% of the amount. The trend is for this concentration to grow. After all, the companies in the top 10 registered an increase of 13.5% compared to the same period last year, against 11.5% for the total market.

Three Brazilian pharmaceutical companies top the list of the ten largest manufacturers in the sector. Eurofarma (R$ 13.8 billion), EMS (R$ 12.3 billion) and Aché (R$ 9 billion) came out on top. They are followed by Novo NordiskCimed e Neo Químicaall in the region of R$ 7 billion. Chemical UnionMedleyBiolab-Sanus e Nestlé close the relationship.

... but multinationals are growing the most

One of the pioneers in the GLP-1, a Novo Nordisk was the fastest-growing manufacturer in the twelve months to September. In the period, pharmaceutical sales grew by 21%. Eurofarma, Aché, Neo Química, Medley and Nestlé grew above the market average. União Química matched the percentage and EMS and Cimed were below the sector.

The independent consultant Cesar Bentim points out that eight of the ten industries on the list are national"What's more, the pharmaceutical companies that are making double-digit progress are doing a good job of combining the competitive intelligence and accurate portfolio management, focusing on innovative medicines and products'', he points out.

The explanation may also be related to a global move by multinationals. "Foreign manufacturers have strengthened their focus on specialty drugs with higher added value, getting rid of mature products. Naturally, this has opened up a niche for Brazilian companies," he comments Henrique Tada, executive director of Alanac.
